Llandudno nursery’s First Birthday

Springfield Day Nurseries have now been occupying their property on Clarence Road for just over a year.

It seems very little time ago that Chris and his team were in the thick of it, converting the redundant church into its new use. It is gratifying to see the level of activity that now exists, with the boost it also gives to the local economy in terms of employment and providing a high quality bespoke nursery facility for Llandudno.

The building incorporates an Air Source heating system, which is a bit like a reverse version of a fridge. This is extremely economic, and enables energy consumption to be reduced, yet still offering zoned heating for each of the rooms. This is so important where there may be babies sleeping in one area, and children running around in another. On that point, we were conscious of the sound insulation needs, and built them into the design; utilising the experiences of the nursery staff.

David Edwards of Springfield Day Nurseries kindly offered the following statement.

We have been delighted with our new nursery in Llandudno. This was the first time we have started a brand new nursery by refurbishing an existing building. The Christian Science Church is a fantastic sight with light airy rooms and lots of outdoor room to play in. The refurbishment was carried out by Mostyn Estates on time and within budget with our opening day occurring on the 4th April 2011 exactly as we had planned some 12 months before.

The nursery has been very well received by the community with occupancy numbers hitting very high levels from day one. Parental comments concerning both the design of the building and the ethos of how it has been run by our very experienced manager Karen Harvey have been excellent. Following the nursery’s First Birthday celebrations Karen Harvey (manager) stated “We are looking forward to many more years of success in Craig-y-Don with the nursery being an even greater part of the local community than it already is”.
