Llandudno as a centre of commerce

Llandudno is a key commercial centre within North Wales. It is a location of choice for a large number of independent and high street multiple retailers. The town has been able to expand its facilities to meet the needs of today’s traders and shoppers whilst still retaining a vibrant town centre.

This has been as a consequence of the careful and planned expansion of both retail warehouse units and more recently a shopping park, which are both within close walking distance of the town centre. These units provided large clear floor space , historically limited within the town centre, and meets the requirements of today’s national retailers. Equally, these parks provide necessary and convenient parking arrangements.

The traditional town centre comprises a principal shopping street, Mostyn Street, together with other supporting locations such as Madoc Street, Vaughan Street and Lloyd Street. These enable a wide range of regional and local independent stores to trade within a town centre environment. This helps to promote a diversified and attractive mix of retail outlets.

A vibrant entertainment and bars culture has been developed amongst the speciality shops within Upper Mostyn Street. This area of town is particularly lively at weekends.

The principal offices are based around Trinity Square, with the industrial uses centred on Builder Street, to the South West of the town centre.

Mostyn Estates hold the freehold of the majority of the commercial town centre. In practical terms, this means that we are able to maintain controls over the way in which our land is used. I hope that you will agree that as a consequence of this, Llandudno has been maintained as an attractive and vibrant town centre. This in itself has resulted in a high level of occupancy compared with many other towns across Britain. The Estate will continue to be managed in this way in the long term interests of the town and Estate.
